Allenstown Book Club

The Allenstown Book Club generally meets the last Thursday of the month at 2:00 pm. Refreshments are served. We read contemporary literary fiction. Titles are chosen by the members at the end of the meeting for the following month.

The Allenstown’s book club will be reading your choice of two literary fiction titles for Black History Month. “Harlem Rhapsody” by Victoria Christopher Murray, a story based on the life of Jesse Redmond Fauset, an African American female literary editor for the NAACP publication, The Crisisor “The House of Eve” by Sadeqa Johnson, a story of two women from different backgrounds, a young mother who wants to be the first in her family to attend college and a woman who has ambitions of marrying an elite Howard University grad. The library has extra copies of either title.

Enjoy reading good books? The Allentown Library is hosting a book club that meets the fourth Thursday of the month at 2:00 pm. Our first book is “The Frozen River” by Ariel Lawhon. A historical mystery novel based on the true story of Martha Ballard, an 18th-century midwife in Maine who investigates a murder. Come join the fun- light refreshments served.
